Functional Skills success with Nature's Way Foods; improving essential skills without disrupting production.
Axia Solutions have recently provided a first wave of Functional Skills English to employees of Nature's Way foods on the south coast, who are passionate about the learning and development of their employees. These employees have varied levels of English and Maths skills as the majority of the factory workers are ESOL learners hailing from Europe, although all we encountered showed a great desire to improve their English, Maths and ICT skills with us.
As part of our company values, we met with the HR team as well as Operational shift managers in Chichester to discuss their needs and to tailor a course around the busy manufacturing deadlines faced by a busy production line. The team there are great to work with and although it is always hard to start a programme like this within a busy production plant/manufacturer, it is important to get off on the right foot and propose the right plan so that it will work from the get go.
We had a fantastic amount of interest in these programmes, all delivered on site in company planned around the shifts to suit Nature's Way.
We have started with a pilot group which has started with 50 learners who are well on their way to completion and thoroughly enjoying their course in the workplace which they all believe will lead to furthering themselves in and out of the workplace.
