Our Print Apprenticeship is ideally suited to those people who wish to pursue or develop a career in printing. It combines practical thinking with real on the job experience in one of many varied job roles. You'll spend time being trained by your employer and our qualified assessors on how to operate within a printing environment, learning about quality the printing process and safety standards.

Intermediate Level Apprenticeships: Level 2 qualifications

Qualifications: Certificate in Machine Printing / Certificate in Pre-Press for Print / Certificate in Print Finishing / Certificate in Reprographics

Certificate in Understanding the Print Working Environment

Functional Skills maths and English (if required) all delivered in the workplace.

Entry Requirements

Ideally you should have a minimum of grade D in both maths and English. If you do not hold these minimum grades you will be assessed on your ability to complete the programme and will undertake Functional Skills classes to improve your skills.

These qualifications are delivered in the workplace with some off the job learning to develop your knowledge of the printing processes and print industry.

Where could this lead?

After gaining an Intermediate Apprenticeship in Printing, you could progress to an Advanced Apprenticeship in Printing. With experience you could become a team leader or supervisor.

You will receive an Induction and Initial Assessment to determine your individual training needs.

Course Content

The Printing Intermediate Level Apprenticeship Framework is made up of five components. To be successful, all five elements must be completed and achieved.

There are many other optional Units available:

Technical Element: Certificate in Understanding the Print Working Environment. You will develop your knowledge of printing processes, types of inks and coatings, quality control, testing, sampling, light standards, colour viewing, drying equipment, substrates, adhesives and their uses.
